Quick Details

  • Availability: Select Days in April & May (Summer Train follows)
  • Time: Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 11:30am
  • Duration: Approx 2.5 – 3.0 hours total
  • Round Trip: Approx 45 minutes each way
  • Layover: Approx 45 – 60 minutes at The Fruit Company
  • “Easter” Edition: Optional one-day activities on April 19, 2025. No Extra Cost. Scroll down for more details.
  • “Art In Motion” Edition: Optional one-day activity on April 25, 2025. Cost = $77. Scroll down for more details.
  • Food & Beverages: Sandwiches can be pre-ordered. VIP and Premium have access to the Bar in the Lounge car. Some food and drinks are also available for purchase during the layover at The Fruit Company. You are also welcome to bring your own snacks, drinks, and picnic lunch — but no alcohol.
  • Seating: Seats are assigned by Mt. Hood Railroad according to your ticket type. VIP, Premium, and Parlor have a table that seats 4. If your group has fewer than 4 tickets, you might be seated with someone else to fill the table, so if you want to ensure you don’t share a table, please make sure the number of tickets equals a multiple of 4. Note: Standard seating does not have a table. If you would like to be seated with another group, please book everyone under one reservation — or put the first & last name of the group you want to sit with in the comment section when booking.
  • Babies: Infant in arms available for ages 0-2
  • Wheelchairs: Parlor seating is the only option that can accommodate wheelchairs, so please select that option for pricing. Keep in mind, since this is a historical train, the width of the door is 30 inches. We have a lift, but unfortunately, we are unable to load or store electric wheelchairs. Also, wheelchairs will not fit through the bathroom doors, so please keep that in mind.
  • Assistance with Boarding: If anyone in your party needs a lift to board the train (such as use of walkers), please let us know in the comments when booking your reservation, so we can plan accordingly.
  • Pets: No Pets are allowed. For health and safety, anyone caught sneaking a pet onto the train is subject to a $100 fine, and they will not be allowed to board the train again after the layover in Pine Grove.
  • Cancellation Policy: If you would like cancellation flexibility, we highly recommend purchasing Cancellation+ when booking your reservation.  It allows you to cancel UP TO 24 HOURS before your departure time and receive a full cash refund minus service fees.

ENJOY A HISTORIC, UNIQUE TRAIN RIDE THROUGH THE LOWER HOOD RIVER VALLEY

The orchard valley will be transformed into a beautiful canvas of blossoming trees, flowers, vines, and plants. To help plan your perfect day, we recommend arriving around 10:45am to have a leisurely experience and get your tickets at Will Call in the depot. The train will depart promptly at 11:30am and travel along the Hood River and past forest, orchards, and vineyards for approximately 45 minutes. Passengers will deboard for approximately 45-minutes where you can visit The Fruit Company and Mount Hood Winery during the layover. If you have lunch, there are picnic tables outside with mountain views, or you can eat on the train during the return trip of 45 minutes, returning to the depot at 2pm.

Easter Edition

The Easter bunny will be hopping through the train, delighting children all the way to The Fruit Company. Valley views will delight families round trip, along with joyful music, coloring pages, and an optional egg hunt during the layover.

Art in Motion

Join us on our scenic Spring Train for a unique round-trip experience with local artist Jordan Kim with Found & Rewound.   We will be “painting in the parlor car” while enjoying the scenic views out the train windows as spring begins in Hood River.    No experience necessary, just bring your creative side as we roll along the train tracks and create a one-of-a-kind art project.  Table service will be provided with beer, wine, and snacks available for purchase.   The art project will focus on Spring with “mixed media,” and everyone will go home with a beautiful wood panel masterpiece. Tickets include: art instructor, art supplies, sense of community, 45 min layover at The Fruit Company, a masterpiece to take home just in time for Mother’s Day!
