FREIGHT
Mt Hood Railroad was constructed by Oregon Lumber Co. with freight operations to Dee in 1906 and to Parkdale in 1909, primarily to serve the lumber industry and later fruit orchards. Now new freight customers are attracted to the cost savings of rail over trucking and fluid, reliable shipping service.
- 22 mile short line is located in Hood River, Oregon
- Interchanges with Union Pacific
- 60 miles east of Portland via Interstate 84
- Also approachable from the south via Highway 35
CAR STORAGE
Sidings and spurs allow for car storage of approximately 50 cars on a year-round basis.
INDUSTRIAL SITES
There are locations along the line which are currently available for industrial/commercial use. Each locale has a loading dock, allows for site development, and is served by reliable and flexible short line service. In addition, the railroad is seeking grant funds to rehabilitate additional spurs, switches, sidings, and track which will expand freight capability.
